A wrong fallacy exists that orthodontic treatment is initiated at the age of only 12 years or more, when all the permanent teeth are present. At times, 4 permanent teeth have to be extracted. The treatment takes almost 1 to 2 years followed by retention plates to stabilize results. Orthodontic Treatment is not related to the presence of milk or permanent teeth, but is to be initiated when the first signs if malocclusions are seen. Orthodontic treatment is a painless procedure and can be completed in most cases in 1 to 2 years. It is not an expensive treatment.
